The 72 rooms all have en-suite bathrooms and are attractively furnished in dark fabrics of a traditional style and all in good condition. Many of the rooms enjoy spectacular views over the Lake whilst others look towards the stunning fells and mountains that surround the beautiful village of Grasmere. The hotel has an elegant Edwardian style restaurant with beautiful high ceilings which offers a choice of traditional English and Continental dishes, complemented by a carefully chosen wine list. This traditional grey stone building, built in the Edwardian era, still has the style and atmosphere of the Country House that its most famous guest, Edward Prince of Wales appreciated so much. The lobby is cosy and very welcoming. It is fairly large in size. A very good hotel in the heart of the Lake district. The hotel is ideal for both groups and individuals. (GW 04/2008)
