During the era of pirates, it provided refuge for ancient sailors. Speculation suggests that buried treasure may lie beneath its foundations. Today, after a meticulous restoration, the building has been reborn and to maintain its connection to the sea, the hostel has been dedicated to the mermaid Partenope. According to Greek mythology, her lifeless body was dragged to the coast by the currents and there transformed into the city of Naples.
