The San Ignacio Resort Hotel is the premier full-service resort property in San Ignacio town, the heart of the Cayo District, 75 miles west of Belize City. Perched above the lush Macal River Valley, the resort boasts incredible views of rainforest and wildlife from each of its 24 deluxe air-conditioned rooms. These lavish retreats, some with their own secluded balcony, wrap you in four-star comfort and feature grand entryways, private tiled baths, cable television, telephone, and Internet connection. While there are numerous adventures to choose from at our tour desk, on-site resort activities include a system of nature trails that leisurely wind through our private 14-acre jungle preserve and riverside beach. These trails offer easy access to more than 100 species of plants and trees and 70 species of birds, as well as other wildlife including gibnut, agouti, armadillo and the endangered green iguana.

Our tour desk can arrange visits to such major Mayan archeological sites as Cahal Pech, Xunantunich, El Pilar, Caracol, or to sites in neighboring Guatemala. Other activities include canoeing, caving, bird watching, and horseback riding and even visiting San Ignacio's own Farmer's Market. So, come experience what we like to call "the only jungle in town." Our 24 rooms all offer beautiful hillside views of our 14 acres of Jungle Gardens and the Macal River. Balcony rooms or suites with ceiling fans, as well as deluxe air conditioned rooms, cable TV, and in-room telephones are available.

Our conference facility can accommodate up to 250 people, and our staff is equipped to handle all details, from audio-visual equipment to meals. After a fun filled day, enjoy a refreshing dip in the outdoor pool or just bask in the sun on the patio lounge. We also boast a full size basketball court for those wanting to stay in shape. There is also a gift shop stock with a variety of locally made items and books by Belizean writers and historians.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are ready when you are in our indoor, outdoor restaurant. Our Green Iguana Conservation Project will offer you a chance to see this disappearing species being protected and released into their habitat. A hatchery on the hotel grounds will renew the population of the over-hunted species. Lectures and slide presentations are available for educational groups. Tours to this exhibit are done daily.
