Originally built in 1920 on the site of 2 cottages so the locals 'had somewhere to buy beer', the hotel takes its name from the whortleberries or 'hurts' which grow locally in the village on nearby Pitch Hill, the site of one of the village's scenic walks. Renovated in 2009, the hotel offers 21 guest rooms and facilities include a restaurant, bar and pub, a lobby with cloakroom, conference facilities and a car park. For an additional fee, guests may also take advantage of the room and laundry services.
The guest rooms, all of which are en suite with a shower and bathtub, are individually and tastefully furnished to a high standard to offer a high level of comfort.
