Es un edificio emplazado en el centro de la ciudad, cerca de los más importantes sitios históricos de Santiago. Construido entre los años 1940 - 1945, fue pensado para albergar a ciudadanos de nacionalidad croata que emigraban a Chile. Pertenece a la junta de Beneficencia Croata, apadrinada por Pascual Baburizza, empresario croata quien llegó a Chile después de la Primera Guerra Mundial.Este edificio, de acuerdo al testamento dejado por Baburizza, tenía por objeto ?auxiliar con obras de beneficencia a los yugoeslavos y descendientes de yugoeslavos residentes en Chile, fomentar toda obra de beneficencia, de instrucción o de cultura en el país, procurar bienestar moral, intelectual y material de sus miembros sin distinción de credos políticos y religiosos.?
