The winter months are warm and cozy with five of these facilities having a log fire.

Located in Kenilworth, Highlands is close to golf courses, Newlands rugby and cricket grounds, Rhodes Memorial, also built by Sir Herbert Baker, Constantia wine estates and the acclaimed Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Beaches on the Atlantic seaboard and the Indian Ocean, the airport, Waterfront and Cape Town city center are 20 minutes away.

A colonial mansion built in 1900 by Sir Herbert Baker for Judge Searle, the first Judge president of the Cape, it has hosted many famous and colourful characters of the time - Arthur Conan Doyle, Oliver Schreiner, Percy Fitzpatrick - to name a few.

Highlands, a boutique hotel, has been lovingly restored and is run as a privately owned Country House Hotel by Tom and Marianne Gray. The guest house is furnished with tasteful antiques and fine fabrics and set in peaceful surroundings. Every effort has been made to enhance the marble and wooden floors, pressed ceilings, large shuttered sash windows, balustrades and fireplaces of the original.

Highlands Country House is a mere 15 minutes away from the city, tucked under the slopes of Table Mountain. Here you can unwind and relax. The guest house has sweeping gardens supplying the rooms with fresh flowers. Benches can be found under trees, beside the pond, on patios and on the putting lawn. This Country House Retreat has many luxurious areas where the guest can read, chat, play billiards, sit in front of the fire in the bar, lounge, library or the resplendent Colonial smoking room. You can soak up the sun while laying on a day bed in the Summer conservatory or for the guest who wants to keep fit or catch a tan, there are two sparkling swimming pools.
